I’m looking into changing the exhaust pipes on my 2008 Harley: Night Rod Special. I was wondering what the cons are about swapping out the stock exhaust pipes? What part of the engineering is really affected, regarding engine performance?
What i’m trying to ask is, how long is the life of an engine if you change the stock muffler for an aftermarket muffler? Longer? Shorter? why???

Well by exhaust flow change it could make the bike run lean or it could run rich both can be fixed by having it rejetted and most bike shops can do this buy a shop with a rear wheel dyno can do a better job of tuning the bike and make more power for you.
Changing the muffler [and making the necessary tuning adjustments if any] has no affect on engine life.
